BCSP directors may serve up to two, three-year terms. Directors volunteer their time and serve without pay. They assist with evaluation of applicant qualifications, governance, liaison with other organizations, and many other important activities.

Sponsoring organizations affiliated with BCSP provide a valuable service to the certification process by helping to ensure that the governance of BCSP includes broad representation from across the safety profession. Affiliated sponsoring organizations nominate individuals to serve on the BCSP Board of Directors. These organizations do not provide funding or support to BCSP or its operations. They do provide their members with a variety of member services, including journals, conferences, continuing education courses, books, and many other valuable services for safety professionals.
